Current app and published policy
Candle Count is developed by Andrew Imhoff. The current App Store release keeps its score history locally and does not require a Candle Count account. The App Store links to the published Candle Count privacy statement. This page adds practical information about the app and distinguishes features still in development.
Saved games
Player names, scores, game dates, alley information, and available scoring details are stored by the app on your device. They are not automatically published on this website or uploaded to the upcoming clubhouse. Local data may be included in backups controlled by your device settings.
The upcoming update preserves historical totals without inventing missing ball-by-ball details. Signing out of an online account is designed to keep the local scorebook intact.
Location
With your permission, Candle Count uses your device’s location to find a nearby alley and record location-verification status for the game. Location permission is controlled in your device’s Settings. You can select an alley manually without a GPS-verified label.
Location verification is not staff approval or proof that a recorded score is correct. Sharing a scorecard may reveal the alley and the recorded game time.
Sharing
When you choose to share a scorecard, the image can include player names, scores, alley branding, promotional text, date, time, and location status. Review the image before sharing it. The app or social network you choose then handles it under that service’s privacy practices.
Online accounts: planned behavior
When launched, accounts will use Supabase for email-code sign-in and profile storage. Account information will include your email, account identifier, username, display name, and profile-visibility choice. The app will keep sign-in credentials in the device’s secure credential storage.
A selected 200+ score will be sent for review only when you submit it. That submission will include its player slot and local game identifier, alley, game date, score, evidence note, and sharing choice. Designated staff for the alley will be able to review the submission. Review actions and revisions will be recorded.
A public profile and a separate score-sharing choice will both be required for an approved honor to appear on the board. Email addresses and private evidence notes will not appear on the public board.
Account deletion is planned to remove the online profile and related online submissions while preserving scores stored on the device. It is not available through this website. Contact support for account or privacy questions.
This website
This site does not include an advertising tracker, analytics script, signup form, or payment form. The hosting service may process technical request information to deliver and protect the site. Access to a private preview may require a hosting-platform sign-in.
App Store, Instagram, and linked documents are separate services. Email links open your email app; nothing is sent until you send the message.
Support messages and questions
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include. We use that information to respond to your request. Avoid sending passwords, sign-in codes, or unrelated personal information.
